The Museum of Geology focuses on the fossils and minerals of the Black Hill region, as well as the fossils of the world, and the skeletons of Jurassic and Cretaceous lifeforms. The museum is located on the campus of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, near the downtown area, just south of Roosevelt Park. Among the museum's 250,000 vertebrate fossils are full skeletons of a mosasaur and a plesiosaur, as well as a collection of more than 6,000 mineral samples.
